I have to fail one of my students this semester. Actually, I may not do this, unless he/she makes a big mistake, say cheating during the exams. A lecturer’s job is not doing a punishment, are we? However, cheating is considered as an academic misconduct.
Meanwhile, exam is a serious test to measure the ability of students in their class. Therefore, I think it seems wise to have a discipline by giving a serious punishment to those who are cheating during the exams. Punishment gives lessons to all students that they must prepare well and study hard to get good grades.
